I used to see a really great hairdresser. Her name was Belinda. I think I had been going to the same salon to see her for about three years when she decided to up and leave to become a personal trainer…as you do. I wished Bells all the best and had a stupid grin plastered on my face when I distinctly remember feeling frustrated because I knew I had to find a new hairdresser. I also knew the other girls at her salon just didn’t, pardon the pun….cut it!
Anyone who has ever had to do it will understand my pain. Going to Bells was easy, She knew my hair type (thin, fine and curly….but lots of it with a tendency for frizz.) She knew my blowave preference (straight, with a centre part) she even knew my coffee choice (White with one, for those playing at home) But most importantly she knew when I felt like a change and let me take risks and be creative (blonde, red, a fringe then cut short all withing the space of two years) and she did it all without ever ruining my hair.
So, I have searched far and wide for someone with the ability to offer wisdom and essentially offer advice but listen and follow my wishes too. I thought I had found a good one and was prepared to pay the extra $50 for a little more luxury…(same town, more upmarket salon, better coffee cups.) But she made the biggest mistake of all when she failed to listen to my request (all over bleach instead of foils) left my hair looking translucent and then had the nerve to try to charge me for toner to fix her mess. I vowed never to return.
I went somewhere else to have it fixed and while they did a good enough job fixing it, I left without that wow…awesome new hair factor.
Since then I have decided the best way to trial a new salon is via a treatment and blowave with irons and have been flirting with a relatively cheap local place. The only problem is treatment, scalp massage and blowwave with irons #1 was a fabulous affair. Scalp massage was delightful, blowwave was perfect and I was in and out in 25 minutes….but #2 massage was hopeless, she got water in my ear and the hairdryer burned me, then she took 40 minutes to straighten my hair. Leaving the process taking just over an hour. CRAZY!
So in the hunt for a hairdresser that knows what they are doing without charging me my first-born child to do it I have embraced the online coupon deals… Lucky for me the latest one is right up my alley with one of the three locations 15 mins from home and the offer is a great way to test them out without a potential bad cut or colour.
For $20 its a Luxury Keratase Hair Treatment, Head Massage, Blow-Dry & GHD Finish for the Ladies OR Style Cut, Head Massage & Treatment for the Guys – that is usually Worth $115 and luckily it is available in 3 Locations in Melbourne and suburbs.
I have bought three of these already…and just had to include the link because I think it is such a bargain that is too good not to share….I mean it is Kerastase after all.
What’s the best coupon deal you have ever found?
Oh…and if anyone knows any fantastic hairdressers in Melbourne…preferably in the Western suburbs I would love to try them out! Share the hairdresser love!
